Tehsil Bhakkar is one of the four tehsils of district Bhakkar. It
spreads over an area of 2,427 square kilometres with a population of
424,488 (as per DCR 1998).
It is bounded on north by Mianwali district, on the east by Khushab
and Jhang districts. On the south lies district Layyah and on the
west is Dera Ismail Khan district with river Indus in between these
two districts.
Bhakkar was raised to the level of
Municipal Committee in 1971-72. After the implementation of Punjab
Local Government Ordinance 2001, it was given the status of TMA.
